Arthritis is an often painful and debilitating disease. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is one of the most common types of inflammatory arthritis.  Symptoms include joint inflammation & destruction which causes a significant decrease in quality of life, functional limitations, and work disability.  Joints become swollen, warm, painful and stiff especially in the morning, on walking, or after activity.  Range of motion is affected and leads to deformity.  Lungs, kidneys, heart, blood vessels and eyes may become affected.  RA causes the lining, or synovia, of the joints to become inflamed which leads to long term joint damage, resulting in chronic pain, loss of function and disability. The cause is unknown but autoimmunity plays a pivotal role.  The frequent age of the sufferer is 40-50 years.

Migraines are painful headaches that keep people from getting to work or from attending other social events. Sensitivity to light, nausea, and vomiting often accompany these head-throbbing experiences. Migraine sufferers describe them as constant and intense throbbing that can last anywhere from a few hours, to a couple days before getting relief.

The Migraine Research Foundation indicates that over 10 percent of the American population suffers from migraines, and that migraines are one of the top 20 disabling medical conditions in the world. Migraines are much more common in women than they are in men. 18 percent of women experience migraines annually, and only 6 percent of men report having migraines. Even school-aged children suffer from migraines which can cause them to miss school, and fall behind in their studies.

Do Fasting Diets Work?

Some people fast as a way to lose weight. Others fast to try to detox their bodies, or for religious reasons.

If you're fasting to lose weight, you may want to reconsider. The weight loss may not last after you finish fasting.

If your goal is to detox your body, you should know that there's no proof that it works. Your body naturally detoxes itself.

Fasting diets aren't all the same. Some allow only liquids like water, juice, or tea. Others cut calories drastically, but don't completely ban food. And on some plans, you fast every other day.
